The Cuesta College Theatre Arts Department is dedicated to initiating students into the artistic process through the medium of theatre.
It is our mission to provide students with a training and production program that will prepare them technically, conceptually, and personally to create their own work, and to meet the far-ranging demands of both contemporary and traditional directors, playwrights, choreographers, composers, and filmmakers. Our goal is to facilitate the development of young artists who have the skill, vision, courage, and will – as well as the personal, social and conceptual consciousness – to create new theatre art.

Spring Awakening
Tickets are on sale now for the Spring 2026 Cuesta Drama production! Spring Awakening, winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, is an electrifying rock musical that redefined the boundaries of theatre.
In the repressive late 19th-century Germany, a group of teenagers trapped by the ignorance of their parents and teachers navigate the confusing and thrilling desires of their awakening sexuality. Spring Awakening follows the young, curious Wendla and the brilliant, rebellious Melchior as they embark on a passionate and tumultuous journey of self-discovery, while the anxious Moritz struggles to live up to the stringent expectations of society.
Fueled by a groundbreaking score that melds alternative rock with folk influences, Spring Awakening is a raw, honest, and poignant story of teenage angst and rebellion. It is a celebration of youth and a heartbreaking cry for understanding.
